Asthma bronchiale in children - practical approach to diagnostics and treatment

Abstract

Asthma bronchiale is a chronic disease, which affectS roughly 1/10 of children in the Czech Republic. It is the most common chronic disease in childhood, which is associated with a range of medical, economic, social and other issues.

The disease develops as a result of both hereditary factors and external environment. The basis of the disease is a chronic inflammation with symptons of bronchial hyperreactivity.

There remains much uncertainty about the exact aetiology and pathogenesis of this disease however. Timely and targeted diagnosis is essential for correct treatment.

In this article, I would like to highlight the practical aspects of diagnosing and treating bronchial asthma in childhood.
