Transposition of the Mortage Credit Directive into Hungarian and Czech law - The Problem of Credit Intermediaries

Publication at Faculty of Law |
2017

Abstract

The previously unregulated gap in European consumer credit law was filled relatively quickly, under the pressure stemming from the financial crisis, by Directive 2014/17/EU on credit agreements for consumers relating to residential immovable property (the Mortgage Directive or the MCD).1 The deadline for transposition expired on 21 March 2016. However, only nine EU Member States published their national implementing measures in time, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Estonia and Hungary.
