Since 2015, when the party Law and Justice (PiS) won the parliamentary election, Poland has been undergoing many changes, that are sometimes referred to as a "leap towards Eastern authoritarianism", or to be "following the Putin model". This paper compares steps made by the current (PiS) government with steps made by previous governments and aspires to put PiS policy into a historical framework, where PiS acts as one of the sides of the bicentennial Polish dialogue concerning finding a place for Polish tradition in an ever-changing world.
Stark critique of the current government tends to overlook the historical framework or is mixing up a criticism of the form with a criticism of the content.
