Intentional dextromethorphan intoxication

Abstract

Dextromethorphan (DXM) is used as a medication for unproductive irritant cough. At therapeutic doses, it is considered to be a safe drug, as well as described abuse for effects on the central nervous system, and intoxication of a DXM drug with suicidal intent.

The authors recorded four cases of DXM intoxication of children and young adults in one hospital during the month.
