Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2017

Abstract

Sets of miniature and model vessels represent a traditional part of the burial equipment from the beginning of the Fourth Dynasty untill the end of the Sixth Dynasty. Abusir tombs dated mostly to the Fifth or Sixth Dynasty, both from the royal and the private cemeteries contained many examples of these often overlooked pieces of burial equipment or objects of daily funerary cult.

The vessels were made of different materials and show different traces of production. In this respect, they point to several approaches to their workmanship.

The article presents the available material also from the point of view of chronology and social context.
