Abstract

The article is based on a postdoc research project titled The History of Finland-Swedish Literature through the Perspective of Bourdieusian Sociology, whose main aim is to write a history of Finland-Swedish literature in Czech. The article deals with the relationship between sociology and literary science in general, and then introduces the theory of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (the Bourdieusian literary field, Bourdieu's aesthetics and the struggle for the literary canon, the struggle concering literary concepts, capital and class according to Bourdieu, autonomy of the literary field).

With a few as representative as possible examples, the application of Bourdieu's theory is described. Many of the stated examples relate to the important movement of the Finland-Swedish literary canon, Finland-Swedish modernism.
