Reception of Latin-American translation studies in Czechia: conceptual, metodological and didactic inspirations

Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

In recent years translation studies has been in search of methodological innovations in the linguistic and culture spheres that have so far remained unexplored. For example, the discipline of Latin-American translation studies has seen a transition from the application of European-based methodology to focusing on local topics, like missionary translation, for example, as well on the integration of domestic methodology conceptualized as cultural translation or cannibalism, and opening new vistas to translator and interpreter training, to exploration of intercultural communication, cultural history and so forth.

This study presents a summary of the reception of such Latin-American concepts by Czech translation scholars, including didactic application.
