Abstract
The study deals with the beginnings of written culture, especially historiography, in the Cistercian order, especially in Cistercian monasteries in medieval Bohemia. Several important works were created here, namely the monastery chronicle of the Žďár Chronicon domus Sarensis and the Zbraslav Chronicle, one of the most important historical writings of the Czech Middle Ages, as well as various smaller analytical writings.
