Disappearance as Initiation

Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

The chapter entitled "Disappearance as Initiation" introduces a process of disappearance as difference in kind (Bergson), a difference deprived of contradiction. Visual art, literature and film examples are used to point to an event of 'dissolution' of meaning in the work, turning to its bare media/structure either on the verge of perception, or obtaining character of active 'tissue'.
