Abstract

Crime mapping is one of the topics on which the importance of cartographic principles and work with geoinformation systems (GIS) in practice, as well as the benefits of geographic thinking in interpreting maps, can be shown. Due to an increasing number of freely available data sources and a greater availability of GIS software, it is possible to include the subject of geography of crime in theoretical and practical education as well.

In this paper, we present the possibilities of using the topic of crime mapping and methods of hot spots representation in teaching.
