Abstract

Europe has earned its current high social standards heavily, slowly and currently faces unprecedented dynamic labour and employment development as well as new and growing social needs. For some phenomena, it is advisable for the Member States to react independently, for others to be more cooperative, although consensus has become increasingly complex in recent times.

At the beginning of this book, a reader is lead through the philosophical, historical and international context of contemporary social law of the European Union.
