Suger, abbot of St. Denis was an important personality of French medieval history.

Counsellor of the kings Louis VI and Louis VII. During the Second Crusade served as one of the regents of the kingdom.

Author of several historical works. His name is connected with the reconstruction of the church of St.

Denis in the Gothic style.
