Abstract

The endoprosthesis for the replacement of a substantial part of long bones, for example, of the thigh bone while performing the total hip joint replacement consists of the conical neck (2) of the endoprosthesis body (2) for attaching the joint head (3) at its one end and the support surface (4) at its other end for its support and the resection face (12) in the remaining part of the bone (13) below which the endoprosthesis body (1) is provided with the anchor shaft (5) with at least one fixation element (6) of the anchor shaft (5) in the region of the expanding diaphysis, abutting, in the fixation position by its outer surface, at least partly onto the inner surface of the bone cavity. Each fixation element (6) is formed towards the support surface (4) of the endoprosthesis body (1) by a tapering conical body with the axial opening (6.2) for its insertion on the lower end of the anchor shaft (5) at the place of its penetration through the bone tissue and for the sliding displacement of the fixation element (6) along the anchor shaft (5) in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the anchor shaft (5) through the bone cavity to the support surface of the endoprosthesis body (1) and pressing of the fixation element (6) into the fixation position, namely from the outer space of the remaining part of the bone (13) in the region of the expanding diaphysis through the temporarily created free input space (11), created by at least partial separation and removal of part of the cortical bone and part of the spongy bone.

The lower end of the fixation shaft (5) is, from this free input space (11), provided with the locking nut (7) of the fixation element (6) in the fixation position in the area of the transition of the expanding diaphysis into the metaphysis.
