Measuring Precipitation

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2017

Abstract

Precipitation is subject to great temporal and spatial variability. Nearly 800 stations and two meteorological radars measure precipitation in Czechia.

These stations use different methods to measure different types of precipitation. Manual or automatic rain gauges measure rainfall, while measuring snow depth is part of the measurement protocol of each climatological station.

Only in rare cases, do stations measure precipitation deposit.
