Abstract

Acute illness of seniors often leads to loss of muscle mass and self-sufficiency. The recovery of muscle tissue is very difficult, so the acute condition can mean the need to help a second person.

The aim of the study was to find out whether an active approach based on early rehabilitation and nutritional support may affect the development of sarcopenia and the patient's self-sufficiency during an acute illness.
