Abstract
During the communist period, normative demands were placed on Romanian literature resulting in pressure that substantially restricted freedom of expression in writing. These standards influenced literary forms and genres, as well as authors, who tried to escape the officially sanctioned socialist re- alism and restore the esthetic function of literature.
This paper presents research on the evolution of writer's prospects and methods from the 1950s until the 1970s.
