Is the Czech society prepared to the diversity of situations in the communication and the changing conditions of the discourse? Or the public service interpreters will help her to resolve it?

Abstract

The Czech society is not prepared to discuss with the foreigners who need to be understood - in school, at the hospital or labor office. The help of an interpreter is crucial (professional or non-professional - public service interpreters).

We show the diversity of situations, the role of the interpreter as mediator and the participation of the Institute of Translation Studies in the training of the community interpreters and in the grants with the NGO's.
