The Sharp Edges of Light and Shade. Bohumil Kubišta's Polemic with Cubism

Abstract

The paper explores specific Cubism of Bohumil Kubišta with respect to canonized Cubism of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque and in relation to "cubisations" and geometrizing styles which were underestimated by the canon of art history. Kubišta's specific approach manifested high qualities which enabled him to lead an interesting polemic with the work of Pablo Picasso.
