Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2017

Abstract

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia and fourth-to-fifthleading cause of death. Its importance constantly rises with demographic changes in population; it becomes serious healthcare and social problem and also a considerable economic burden.

Currently, more than 50 percent of people with AD are diagnosed in the advanced stage of the disease when therapeutic options are substantially limited. The article deals with possibilities to recognize the disease and influence its course and tries to determine factors that complicate the definitive diagnosis.
