Abstract
The article aims at a support of the Roma language in Finland. It results from international conferences, ratifi cation of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, and Romani Education Unit.
It emphasizes an insuffi cient linguistic knowledge of Roma children as one of main reasons of diffi culties they met in school. Knowledge of the Roma language acts as an instrument to boost the ethnic identity, and contributes to prevent the social exclusion.
