Determination of small mammal species in the diet of owls : Practical laboratories in school focused on vertebratology

Abstract

A pellet is regurgitated mass of undigested prey of an owl. Determining the mammal species found in pellets is very polulat in schools.

Working with pellets has an advantage in that allows determinationof small mammals without killing and dissection both of small mamals and birds. Secondly examining the pellets provides information about the occurence of local species of small mammals
