The treasures of the Šumava "mud": The study of the lake sediments opens us unabated horizons

Abstract

Who would not know the Šumava lakes, one of the symbols of NP Šumava. There are eight - five on the Czech and three on the German side of the mountain range.

There have been more in the past, but some naturally filled the sediments and transformed into peat bogs. The largest of such paleolakes is the Stará Jímka, located near Prášilské Lake.
