Abstract

The article focuses on editorial procedures in publishing multiple language versions of a single text on the example of a critical edition of a Latin document by Maximilianus Wietrowsky Historia S. Joannis Nepomuceni (1729) and its Czech version Zpráva historická o životě sv.

Jana Nepomuckého (1730). It explains particular implementation of the editorial principles on the individual components of the text (formal form, orthography, majuscule, accents, borders of words in the text, palaeographical abbreviations and sigla, punctuation and the annotation apparatus) and shows the pitfalls of parallel editions of texts, which demand combination of editorial approaches used in the various languages.

The article is concluded with a discussion on the increasingly popular form of digital editions.
