Abstract
The Czech Republic ranks among the lowest tens of EU countries according to the share of immigrants in the total population. Nevertheless, during the period 1985-2015 the number and share of immigrants increased significantly from 37,000. and 0.36% in 1985 to 470 thousand. and 4.5% in 2015.
The paper analyzes this development in broader socio-economic and political contexts.
