Miniature handheld portable and lightweight Raman spectrometers allow nowadays to obtain good quality Raman spectra under indoors and outdoors conditions. Such a data can serve to identify mineral and organic phases which are of high importance in several areas including geoscience, planetary research as well as cultural heritage.
Practical experience obtained under complex field conditions in the frame of extremophiles colonisations (i.e. evaporitic series and endoliths) is important for future deployment of miniature instruments under Martian conditions.
