Abstract

activities during physics lessons; four different types of practical work were included. More than 2300 high school students took part in the research.

Cluster analysis method was employed on students' stated preferences in the questionnaire and students were divided into several groups according to the preferences. The groups differ the most in their preferences of two types of practical work and of an activity focused on formulae and algebraic approach.

They differ in relative representation of girls and boys and in their stated need of physics for their future life. Differences in preferred communicative approach during physics lesson were recognized as well.
