Client kings were in the first century AD and in our area a new phenomenon and a political tool of Rome. According to reports from ancient authors we can describe client kings as sovereign rulers of their territory.
According to reports, Marobudus behaves towards Caesar himself as an equal partner. Such impudence was however punished by Romans.
Similarly Vannius behaves as a sovereign ruler of his territory. He overned his kingdom for thirty years.
The wealth he had accumulated became an object of a dispute, which caused that he had to refuge into safety of the territory of the Roman Empire. Nowadays the Vanniu's kingdom could be regarded as the first political entity and Vannius and his successors could be regarded as the first reigning "dynasty" in Slovakia.
