Abstract
Chapter in the monograph "The fortification Hrádek u Libochovan, results of archaeological non-destructive research". The fortification Hrádek is located in northern Bohemia, strategically situated in the Czech Gate - above the eastern bank of the Elbe River.
It is an important archaeological locality. However, existing knowledge about the site is very sketchy.
The geophysical survey under the head of the Faculty of Science of the Charles University was executed using conductometry in a network of 1 x 1 m points and covered the higher south-eastern half of the site in the wider surroundings of the spot height 264 m. Its aim was to locate potential archaeological objects; the device used allowed measurements in three depth levels.
The executed survey led to the localization of several areal and series of local (point) anomalous indications. The most significant areal anomaly is formed by the segment of a wide circular resistivity structure (diameter about 120 m) in the northern half of the site; its cause may be both anthropogenic (fortification) and geological (change in lithology combined with terrain relief).
Other detected anomalies may indicate the presence of sub-recent structures (paths, defunct parcel borders), while local anomalies the presence of metal objects of various origins and ages.
