Abstract

The study focuses on the indirect and covert representation of totality, the role of silence and non-communication, especially in the novell Saulus by Miklós Mészöly. It points to the individual's desire to distance himself from the system of might and to prevert the loss of individuality, personal freedom.

The novel Saulus is a groundbreaking piece of Hungarian literature of this periode and is unknow in the Czech context.
