Abstract
The chapter provides a complex overview of Bourdieu's theory of the literary field in the context of his theory of action. It is based on numerous works by Bourdieu and others.
The second half of the text focuses on current metamorphoses of the concept, especially in French context. Several alternative notions are briefly explained, e.g. the literary game (Bernard Lahire) and posture (Jerome Meizoz).
