2012

Abstract

Ottoman residential architecture today can be found in the economically or properly significant cities of the post-ottoman region. The text seeks to trace the historical roots of this architecture, which is now considered to be typical Turkish in Turkey.

The author tries to analyze historical references and iluminations of Ottoman houses, place them in the context of historical architectural periods in the Ottoman Empire and in Europe, and follows their genesis from the early modern period to the early twentieth century.
