Abstract

One-dimensional fluid model of the positive column in oxygen DC discharge under pressure several hundreds of pascal is developed. Our model of the periodic and infinitely long positive column is based on the drift-diffusion approximation of the particle flux.

The model utilizes the mean-electron-energy approximation for the treatment of electron interactions and the Bessel distribution is assumed for the radial profiles of the particle concentrations. The model estimates the particle concentrations and the longitudinal electric field on the axis of the cylindrical tube and the calculated intensity of the electric field is compared with the measurement.

The results of the model are in good agreement with the measurements of the electric field in the H-form of positive column in oxygen DC discharge. Unfortunately our longitudinal model failed to reproduce the T-form of the positive column.
