Abstract
The book The court never sleeps. The creative versatility of Franz Kafka's Mitteleurope, in an essayist way, focuses on the broader context of the work, which makes the German literary literature of Prague today a completely unique phenomenon.
In Prague, Franz Werfel, Rainer Maria Rilke, Max Brod, or philosopher Christian von Ehrenfels, have been performing prominent personalities such as Albert Einstein, Gustav Mahler or Martin Buber. The Prague literary saloons and cafes, which, of course, are also attended by Czech authors, on the one hand, compared to Viennese and Berlin counterparts, preserve their provincial character, on the other hand, life in a "multicultural" society provides the literature with unrepeatable impetus.
