Abstract
Essayistic text is a literary-historical introduction to a translation collection of short stories of contemporary writers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It briefly introduces literary tradition and heritage of South Asia together with the particular literatures of its major languages (Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Tamil and English).
