The chapter analyzes the biography of the Archduke Ferdinand II, notes his upbringing and education at the court of Innsbruck and travels throughout Europe. The center of attention is the arrival of the Archduke in the office of the governor in the Czech lands in 1547 and his political and administrative functions until 1567.
It was also important to build his court which attracted the Czech nobility. The rich social and cultural life of the Archduke influenced positively the increase of the renaissance lifestyle in the Czech lands.
