Abstract

In the musical public, the personality of Josef Kainar is associated with songs in the first place. These concern both lyrics that Kainar set to music by himself or those musicalized by other artists or popular blues or swing tunes with Kainar's texts, respectively.

Compared to them, musical settings of his verses by contemporary Czech composers are less known. These are compositions for voice and piano, or choirs and piano, which are all meant for the child interpreters and the child audience.

This paper focuses on this rather neglected subject matter and presents songs composed by Jindřich Feld, Jiří Teml and Jiří Pazour and to focus on the comparison of the lyric and musical metre and rhythm.
