Publication at Faculty of Education |
2017

Abstract

Sight-reading is undoubtedly one of the most challenging tasks to master for every beginning pianist. At fi rst, children start playing the piano by hearing.

Th e transition from playing without sheet music to playing from sheet music has to be gradual and preceded by conscientious preparation, when the pupil is already perfectly familiar with the keyboard by touch as well as by hearing, can recognize the direction of the melody and has a developed rhythmical feeling as well as musical expression. To further develop the pupil's rhythmical and musical abilities, the teacher uses suitable available materials as well as suitable methods.
