Two Years of a Common Catalog Using Open Source Integrated Library Software Evergreen

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2017

Abstract

Evergreen, an open source Integrated library system has been successfully used in the Czech Republic since 2011. Evergreen is a robust and scalable software originally designed to operate a shared catalog of the large consortia of libraries.

This capacity of the Evergreen software led the Czech Evergreen community to create the first shared catalog of two completely independent libraries in the Czech Republic. The shared catalog has been in operation since 2015; currently other libraries are planning to join it.

After two years of operation it is clear that libraries can collaborate successfully in sharing library system which leads to the reduction of personal and financial resources.
