The analysis of Mongolian iconopoeic and onomatopoeic words and their translation

Abstract

The paper describes systematically the group of Mongolian words known as iconopoeia and onomatopoeia (Mongolian du'rsleh u'g - lit.'depicting' words). It concentrates on the problem of their formation, meaning and translation.
