Abstract
Abruption, artificial abortion, is defined as intentional termination of pregnancy through a chemical or surgical procedure. This issue is one of the most discussed alongside euthanasia and the death penalty, apart from legal aspects, it has a moral dimension.
In the territory of Poland, the subject resonates in political campaigns; the right of women to abortion is often negatively expressed by church leaders. The aim of this article is to familiarize the reader with the Polish legislation on the permitted interruption of pregnancy and the criminal aspects of abortion.
Some cases dealt with by the European Court of Human Rights will be discussed in detail. The output of the processed topic is a brief comparison of the Czech and Polish legislation and the proposals de lege ferenda in this area.
