The Rock Art of Northeast Africa : Methodological Achievements and Perspectives of Further Research

Abstrakt

The paper overviews the methodological achievements of rock-art research in Northeast Africa (Egypt and the Sudan) concerning the dating and understanding of the original meaning of the regional rock art. Subsequently it focuses on the unintentional significance of the evidence and discusses several themes revolving around the questions of "where" and "who".
