Adenoid cystic carcinoma accounts for approximately 25% of malignant salivary gland tumors, while its primary occurrence in the skin is highly rare. About 100 cases of primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma have been described in the literature to date.
Our case report describes a rare occurrence of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the left auricle in an 85-year-old woman. Clinical-pathological characteristics and treatment of this rare cutaneous tumor are discussed.
