The edited material includes the ten-year long (1926-1936) correspondence between the well-known Czech his- torian Jaroslav Bidlo (1868-1937) and the Polish historian and Slavicist Henryk Batowski (1907-1999), whose professional career was at that time just starting. Their contacts started with efforts aimed at the promotion of Polish-Czechoslovak relations, but they soon switched to purely scientific subjects.
Bidlo and Batowski found common ground in their shared interest in Slavic and Balkan studies, especially the issue of a synthetic history of the Slavic peoples. This text offers an edition of 32 letters and postal cards whose originals are kept in archives in Prague and Krakow.
