A German-Bohemian Enterpreneur as object of interest of the portuguese Inquisition 1795-1796 (introduction to the issue)

Abstract

This contribution deals (on base of unknown archival documents and literature of that time) with the figure of Wenzel Sperling, trademan and entrepreneur from the Náchod region, who penetreted the portuguese market with a new technology of bleaching the linen. He also was interested in the commerce of cane and in the production of cane sugar in Bohemia.

He became object of interest of the portuguese Inquisition.
