Endophytes - Ubiquitous Colonizers of Plant Tissues

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2017

Abstract

Endophytic fungi are a very heterogeneous and species-rich group of fungi from va-rious taxonomic groups, mostly belonging to Ascomycota. They share the ability to colonize plant tissues without any symptoms.

Even after many years of intensive study, the diversity of these fungi, their effect on the host plant and their ability to produce bioactive compounds with potential use in medicine is surprising.
