This article identifies and describes the cascade of ageing-related risks, the way these risks further chain and strategies people use to mitigate them. Thanks to this conceptual framework the authors capture the missing connection between the choice of an individual strategy on the one side and the risks of unfulfilled ideal of the life in the old age on the other.
The new conceptual framework is designed and presented with the intention to provide a starting point for further and more systematic study of people's decisions concerning their preparations for old age and, at the same time, a tool for policy makers enabling more complex and effective grasp of the issue.
