Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2015

Abstract

Basics of Medical Physics presents an easy to follow description of the relations of the methods of basic physics students may encounter in clinical and experimental medicine. Medical physics is specific in applying the methods of physics on a living organism, thus being an interdisciplinary field which brings together physics and biological sciences.

The methods explained in the text are based on different principles of physics, some of which have been known for more than 100 years, such as the use of optical magnifying lenses or X-rays, while others are the results of modern technological advances, such as magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography. This book presents a comprehensive overview of the use of various methods of physics in medicine, helping the readers to understand the presented relations in broader contexts and to apply the described methods in various medical fields.
