The article deals with the historical background of the Zora magazine and evaluation of its real contribution for the human and social equalization of persons with the visual impairment in the first half of the 20th century in the Czech lands. The female author points out the far-reaching significance of this periodical for whole others emancipatory efforts and the cultural direction of several generations of the blind.
The aim of the article is also an effort to highly appreciate the unique personality of Karel Emanuel Macana and his close associates and friends who were able prepare the conditions for change of a paradigm of the position of the visually impaired disability in society.
