Abstract

The problem of breast cancer (BC) in young women (Y) is serious for several reasons. The first aspect is the age of women.

By the term breast cancer of very young women, we understand BC up to 35 years. A particular chapter is BC diagnosed during pregnancy (PBC) or one year after birth.

A bit often is BC diagnosed after childbirth in the lactating breast, which is less accessible for examination. Attention must be paid to women whose family history shows signs of a possible inherited risk for the disease.

YBC is particularly important for its worse prognosis, which is caused by more aggressive BC subtypes. The more frequent occurrence of triple negative (TNBC) or HER2-dependent (HER2 +) BC is accompanied by other adverse histological parameters.

At low incidence of YBC, advances in treatment are rather an attempt to mimic the therapeutic effect of drugs tested on the population of patients over 40 years of age. However, several studies have recently been completed, with the results improving the prognosis of patients with aggressive tumors, especially by using anti-HER2 therapy
