Abstract
The first part of the paper briefly outlines the development of private and collective ownership, paying special attention to repeated efforts to eliminate private ownership. In the second part the author notes that the present idea of unity of ownership has not always applied, and there have been multiple tendencies in the past to differentiate various forms of ownership and accordingly provide different levels of protection.
